While serving in the US ARMY, Bishop Corbett experienced a new beginning.

In 1977, he was born again and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1978. After eight years of active duty in the military, God called Bishop Corbett into the ministry. He left the military and moved to Greenville, North Carolina where he attended Pitt Community College and was a two-time honor graduate. He later achieved a BSA degree in Accounting from East Carolina University in Greenville and worked as a Loan Officer. 

In 1985, Bishop Corbett transitioned from his banking career to full-time ministry. He received his Doctor of Biblical Studies and Doctor of Divinity Degree from World Christian College Council in Fresno, California on December 4, 1994. 

Bishop Corbett is the regional director for the International Convention of Faith Ministries. God gave him a vision to minister to the whole man; spirit soul, and body. The vision includes reaching communities with the gospel and taking the message of Jesus Christ around the world. He is fulfilling that vision through practical teaching of the Word of God, radio and television broadcasts, streaming outlets, teaching CDs, and supplementary books. 

He has also written several books including Men of Honor, Tithing the Tithe, Victory Over Grief, and Honoring Your Husband-Honoring Your Wife. The monthly devotional, “A Word in Season,” is distributed worldwide digitally and in print. He is a songwriter, with multiple published gospel tracks in rotation on radio airways and streaming outlets. 

The father of five children and 16 grandchildren, Bishop James D. Corbett and his wife, Lady Sarah, continue to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

Born and raised in Greenville, NC, Lady Sarah A. Corbett is the fourth oldest of nine children. She attended schools in Pitt County and Pitt Community College.  After 45-plus years in the pharmaceutical industry, she retired in 2023. 

In 1992, Lady Corbett was invited to attend Greenville Community Christian Church. Here she came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Additionally, she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and faithfully serves in ministry.   She is passionate about ensuring that all who enter the house of the Lord feel welcome.

In February 2013, Lady Sarah was joined in holy matrimony to Bishop James D. Corbett. Together, they have five adult children, 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. As Psalm 127:3 states, “Children are a heritage and gift from the Lord” (Amp).  She is faithfully involved in ministry with her husband.
